Retreat
Surrender In Sweetwater - Glamping Retreat

Please note that this is an intimate retreat and space is limited!

Escape to the beauty of rural Mississippi and join us for a silent meditation retreat at The Lodge at Sweetwater Studios, a glamping eco-lodge just two hours from New Orleans.

Surrounded by towering trees and open skies, we’ll be “glamping” (glamorous camping) in tents equipped with electricity, beds, and all necessary creature comforts, even while we reconnect with the nature around us.

The focus of this retreat will be a set of virtuous practices designed to make our minds infinitely loving and limitless:

  1. loving-kindness or benevolence (mettā)
  2. compassion (karuṇā)
  3. empathetic joy (muditā)
  4. equanimity (upekkhā)

In Buddhism , these practices are known as the brahmavihārā, or the “Four Immeasurables”. They are also found in the Metta Suta and Yoga Sutra.

Retreat Details:

  • Dates: Friday, December 6, 6:00 PM – Sunday, December 8, 1:00 PM
  • Location: The Lodge at Sweetwater Studios, near Laurel, Mississippi

Retreat Highlights:

🤫 Noble Silence: After a warm welcome and orientation on Friday evening, we’ll observe noble silence until Sunday morning, which means that participants will be encouraged to keep their attention inward and not engage in speaking with one another. This silence allows for deeper self-reflection and enhances the retreat’s transformative power.

🧘 Yoga Asana, Meditation, and Dharma Talks: Your skilled facilitators will guide you through periods of meditation, accessible movement, and engaging talks on the concept and teachings of the Four Immeasurables. All of these practices are designed to facilitate mental clarity, physical wellbeing, and greater overall ease.

🌿 Nature’s Embrace: The Lodge at Sweetwater’s picturesque setting offers the perfect backdrop for your journey inward. With your phone off and stowed away for the duration of the retreat, you’ll be encouraged to connect with the earth, find serenity beneath the open sky, and allow nature to heal you.

🌅 Free Time for Self-Care: Embrace the freedom to relax, read, stroll through nature’s wonders, and bask in solitude during your free time. This retreat is your opportunity to reset and rejuvenate at your own pace.
